Failure : The real success

“Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fail.”

“Few of our own failures are fatal,” economist andFinancial Times columnist Tim Harford writes in his new book, Adapt: Why Success Always Starts With Failure. This may be true, but we certainly don’t act like it. When our mistakes stare us in the face, we often find it so upsetting that we miss out on the primary benefit of failing (yes, benefit): the chance to get over our egos and come back with a stronger, smarter approach.

Failing to me is a learning experience and experiment; it makes you dig deeper, think harder, and forces you to be open minded. It allows you to experiment and get things wrong, eliminate the things you’ve tried that went wrong, then focus on new ideas that you can possibly get right.

We fail in the small things: staying on a diet, keeping a New Year’s resolution, or controlling anger in us. We fail in the larger things: overcoming an addiction, finding employment, or holding on to an important relationship. And sometimes our failures negatively impact the rest of our lives: keeping a marriage together, persuading a child to make better choices, or overcoming a lifetime of debt.
But in each setback—whether small or large—we find opportunity for growth. And as long as a glimmer of hope remains, so do we.

Success is the result of hard work, firm determination and dedication. Sometimes, the attempt proves to be a failure. But failure is a natural phenomenon. It carries a treasure of invaluable experience. Success and failure are two facets of the same coin.
A man who has not tasted failure doesn’t know of success. He becomes too self assured and easy going. Most great men achieved success only after a long battle with failures. They learnt from their failures.

The people of today are restless. They expect results immediately. Rome was not build in a day. Success is bound to follow once we start running towards our objective. One should not be depressed or dejected when one meets failure on the way.

Today, we can lead a comfortable life. We have numerous facilities and arrangements at our disposal. All these were not available in the past. They were invented and discovered. It was possible only through hard work and toil.

Failure results when the preparation for a gold has not reached perfection. There is something lacking which requires timely attention. One can’t enjoy one’s success to the extreme unless one has tasted failure. Failure prepares the foundation for bigger things in life. Failure are thus the pillars of success.

In your world, what represents failure? Ask yourself that question and really take some time to answer truthfully. As J.K. Rowling said, we all must come to the decision about what failure and adversity represents in our lives. Our answers to that very important question greatly determines our levels of achievement and what’s in store for us in the future.
The greats, the champions, the best to ever do it view failure and adversity as their friend and something to help them grow and ignite their creativity and desire to be the absolute best.

“Failure should be our teacher, not our undertaker. Failure is delay, not defeat. It is a temporary detour, not a dead end. Failure is something we can avoid only by saying nothing, doing nothing, and being nothing.”

  1. The way you ended the article is amazing! Great thoughts! I believe that it is really difficult to do what you are saying entirely. We are human. It is but natural for us to cry when we fall. But like you said, its just a delay and not defeat!
